How to Create an Original Superhero Character
Build a hero with a distinct alias, motive, power cost, home city, and first issue hook.
A memorable superhero starts with a choice, not a power. Decide what the character protects, what they fear losing, and what their first public action says about them.
Start with the pressure point
The best origin moment forces a decision. A solar hero might choose between saving one tower or lighting the whole grid. A street hero might step forward when no powered hero arrives.
Make the power specific
- Give the power a visual signature.
- Add a limit or emotional cost.
- Tie the power to the city, team, or rival.
